Our Chairman of the Board of Directors and also Chairman of the EBSO 24th Plastic Packaging Industry Professional Committee, Şener Gençer, drew attention to the decline in domestic petrochemical raw material production in Turkey to 7% levels.
Emphasizing that the Turkish plastics sector has become highly dependent on imports, Gençer stated that the solution lies in recycling:
“With quality waste, Turkey can achieve a new petrochemical industry. If we want a new petrochemical industry, we must look for it in the trash.”
With the separation of waste at source and the development of recycling technologies, the sector will see an increase in both environmental sustainability and domestic production capacity.
